Community Garden

Thanks for the memories, folks!

It’s official: there are plans to begin developing our garden site into townhomes this fall. We are grateful to homebuilder Gary Osterfeld for use of this property over the past four years. On October 3rd, a team is coming to move the gardens to the East End veterans garden on Strader.  Work will begin at 8:00 am.  We are hoping to be finished in 4 hours or so.  Please join us in the effort to continue our garden, whether you can come for an hour or stay til the work is finished, it all helps!  If you would like to continue gardening there please let me know.  I’m not sure how that garden will be run but I was assured that those who help in the moving of the gardens will get 1st choice of plots next year.  Also, if you’ve been around since the beginning of the garden and would like to transfer your plot to your own yard, please feel free.  We just ask that it’s done before the 2nd of October so we don’t mistakenly take something you want to keep.

Kathy Hickey will start a general clean up of the gardens next week, September 21st.  Please get to the garden soon to pull the last of your produce.  If you cannot get there and want Kathy to harvest for you, she will be glad to.  Just her know and give her your address and she will drop it off to you.  All others will be taken to a food pantry or La Soupe.

We would like to give our sincere thanks to the following businesses for their support over the years:

H Hafner & Sons – Cincinnati Landscape Supplies

One Small Garden – Raised Beds and Organic Garden Consulting
