Columbia Tusculum Needs You!

If you would like to get more involved in your community and make new friends, consider volunteering! See specific events and projects below needing help:

**NOTE:**Columbia Tusculum Community Council membership and voting privileges are based on community involvement:  attending at least three CTCC meetings per year, providing at least six hours of community service, or some combination of these two.  All projects below contribute to your CTCC membership requirements for the next year.

Mentors for Riverview East Academy students

The Community Services Branch of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati has over 30 children involved in the afterschool program at Riverview East who would like to have mentors. Mentors are invited to come and spend an hour a week between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 participating with the students of Riverview East during afterschool. Mentors must be at least 23 years old and be able to pass a background check and undergo 15 hours of training over a 3-4 week period. The children of Riverview are excited about the opportunity but we need more mentors.

Columbia Tusculum Beautification

We maintain five public areas as gateways to our neighborhood and to otherwise “beautify”  our neighborhood.  We need people to “adopt a plot” to keep these looking neat, clean and welcoming entries to Columbia Tusculum.

  • Can you get a couple neighbors or friends together to weed, mulch, water and remove trash over the year for one of these?  Work at your own convenience for a few hours, mainly with seasonal change.
  • Columbia Parkway Gateway sign  (grass will be cut by someone else)
  • Wilmer Road Gateway sign – opposite main airport building
  • Airport Road Pocket Park – at Carrel St
  • Median Strip plantings around Columbia Square – Columbia Parkway & Delta Ave
  • Trees on right-of-ways around Columbia Square – Columbia Parkway, Delta, Eastern Ave
  • The MSD land on the corner of Empress and Widman Avenues.

Columbia Tusculum Business Association:

CTBA is just off the ground with only one leader at this early stage – Fran.  A number of the members are busy small business owners just getting their new Columbia Tusculum businesses started.  Can you help this new group get organized and running smoothly?
